~Renaissance~

Once love was antiquated
a dark and dreary place
a dungeon devoid of memories
a soul without a face

Days spent in endless lanquor
reverie the only retreat
expectations all relinquished
doubting that my heart did beat

Love had lost all passion
no spark to light the fire
the embers of a fleeting star
dying in lost desire

Then on that mystical moonlit night
all reason ceased to be
for when I gazed into his eyes
I saw my destiny

A gift from Eros
an answered prayer
my wish for a second chance
to drink the cup of love's sweet wine
to live my Renaissance

To feel childhood innocence
elation at love's first breath
sensations touching warm, soft skin
pledging love until death

Dreams spoken softly
tender kisses in the night
a rebirth of body and spirit
a reason for living this life

With each new setting sun
the promise of a new day
with each season growing stronger
with him to show the way

Life takes on a whole meaning
when you find your true romance
as you drink love's cup together
in eternal Renaissance
